ARTIST’S MISSION STATEMENT

My Love of stained glass began when I viewed original Tiffany works on tour in Washington DC. What started as a hobby became a way of life for me. In a leap of faith, I left my position as the Executive Chef with one of the largest catering companies in Denver to pursue my love of creating beautiful stained glass pieces.

At the Glass Master Studio located just south of denver, I design and build one of a kind art pieces to compliment the beauty of your home. I have been building and creating glass pieces for 20 years. Over these years, I have developed a signature art glass style and method uniquely my own. I combine copper foil technique and leaded glass which results in windows so detailed they have a painted effect. This process involves my careful selection and blending of color and textured glass combinations.

It is my belief that one of the most important aspects of any creation is to have the client participate as an integral part of the design process.

My work reflects my interest in architecture and I am able to incorporate and maximize light to its best advantage. Glasswork has become more than a living for me, it is a personal expression and a lifelong artistic adventure. — Steve Downing
